Frank Ambriz, clinical associate professor in the UTRGV Department of Physician Assistant Studies and program director of the Master in Physician Assistant Studies Bridge Program (MPAS), has been named the 2018 Outstanding Physician Assistant Educator of the Year by the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA). Professor of Medicine Named Outstanding Physician Assistant Educator of The Year

Students at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine on Saturday celebrated the opening of its first student-run clinic at Proyecto Desarrollo Humano in Peñitas. The students will offer free primary healthcare services, under the supervision of UTRGV School of Medicine clinical faculty, to residents of the Pueblo de Palmas neighborhood and surrounding communities.

School of Medicine Celebrates Opening of UT Health RGV Pediatric Specialty

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has established the multi-disciplinary UTRGV Center for Vector-Borne Disease (CVBD), a collaborative effort to develop a self-sustaining, research-focused center in South Texas that will study diseases like Zika, chikungunya and dengue. On April 9, the university hosted a panel event on the Edinburg Campus to formally announce and launch the center.
