    Rigel Piñón of Mission, a UTRGV graduate student in the Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program, has been named the 2018 National Council on Rehabilitation Education Graduate Student of the Year, the 2018 American Rehabilitation Counseling Association Graduate Student of the Year, and the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals Graduate Paper of the Year for 2017-2018.     Frank Ambriz, clinical associate professor in the UTRGV Department of Physician Assistant Studies and program director of the Master in Physician Assistant Studies Bridge Program (MPAS), has been named the 2018 Outstanding Physician Assistant Educator of the Year by the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA). The award honors an individual who has demonstrated exemplary service to PA students and who has furthered the leadership, educational, or professional development of PA students.     Professor of Medicine Named Outstanding Physician Assistant Educator of The Year

    Students at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine on Saturday celebrated the opening of its first student-run clinic at Proyecto Desarrollo Humano in Peñitas. The students will offer free primary healthcare services, under the supervision of UTRGV School of Medicine clinical faculty, to residents of the Pueblo de Palmas neighborhood and surrounding communities.
