The DHR Health Oncology Institute is proud to announce its partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to present a free educational program focused on cancer survivorship. The Cancer Survivorship Program is scheduled for September 19, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, located at 2610 W. Expressway 83 in Pharr. Those interested are invited to sign up for the event.

As part of Leukemia & Lymphoma Awareness Month, which is celebrated in September, the program aims to provide valuable insights and resources to cancer survivors, caregivers, and their families in the Rio Grande Valley. The event will feature Dr. Jose Cruz, an expert in Medical Oncology and Hematology at DHR Health, who will discuss effective communication strategies between patients, physicians, and healthcare teams. 

“We are excited to collaborate with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to empower cancer survivors and their loved ones through this educational event,” said Anabel Arellano, Director Patient Relations/Business Development at the DHR Health Oncology Institute. “This partnership underscores our commitment to enhancing patient care and fostering a sense of community in the fight against cancer.”

The Cancer Survivorship program is open to patients, caregivers, and their family members. Attendees will gain valuable insights into effective communication strategies with healthcare teams, discover available resources, and learn about the impact of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the local community.
