School of Medicine Celebrates Opening of UT Health RGV Pediatric Specialty

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has established the multi-disciplinary UTRGV Center for Vector-Borne Disease (CVBD), a collaborative effort to develop a self-sustaining, research-focused center in South Texas that will study diseases like Zika, chikungunya and dengue. On April 9, the university hosted a panel event on the Edinburg Campus to formally announce and launch the center. Founding members of the CVBD are (from left) Dr. Teresa Feria Arroyo, Dr. Tamer Oraby, Dr. Erin Schuenzel, Dr. Beatriz Tapia, Dr. John M. Thomas II and Dr. Christopher J. Vitek.
