EDINBURG, Texas – State Representative Terry Canales was presented with the top legislative award given each biennium by the Texas Psychological Association at his law office in Edinburg, Texas. The award was presented by Edinburg-based psychologist and current Texas Psychologist of the Year, Dr. Joseph McCoy.
The award is given each biennium to a legislator, legislative employee, or other individual who has had a major role in passing legislation that significantly impacts psychology in Texas. This year, Representative Terry Canales was recognized for his work during the 2023 Legislative Session. Representative Canales authored forward-thinking legislation during a challenging legislative session that helps reduce unnecessary delays in the guardianship process and will ultimately save money for Texas families.
Rep. Canales made the following comments:
I am deeply honored and humbled to receive this prestigious award from the Texas Psychological Association for my contributions to the field of psychology in our great state. It is with immense gratitude that I accept this recognition.
