The arrival of a new infant is widely considered a special cause for celebration, marking a new life, a miracle and a major family milestone.

But there’s extra reason to be tree-mendously happy when a baby is delivered on Christmas Day.

In the United States, about 3.6 million babies are delivered annually, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with fewer babies born on Christmas than on any other day of the year.

Since doctors rarely schedule C-sections on national holidays or weekends, and about one in three American babies are born via C-section, there are 30-40% fewer babies born on December 25 than on the most popular day of the year.

That makes the arrival of Little Rebekah Leann Guizar extra special.

She was delivered at 10:02 a.m. on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at The Maternity Center at South Texas Health System (STHS) Edinburg, weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces and measuring 20 inches long.

““It was the most beautiful moment I’ve ever experienced, something so amazing,” says Karen Guizar of her first child with husband Felipe. “It’s such a blessing; we felt God’s love shining down on us as she entered the world on such a holy day.”

Originally due on January 11, 2026, Karen’s obstetrician-gynecologist recommended  labor induction nearly three weeks early for medical reasons. Following that medical procedure on Tuesday, December 23, the Guizar Family eagerly anticipated the arrival of their bundle of joy for two days.

“Everyone had been here anxiously awaiting her arrival since the 23rd,” says Karen. “But she was waiting to make her grand entrance on Christmas Day.”

The labor & delivery team at STHS Edinburg is honored to be spending Christmas Day with Little Rebekah and her family, with the staff expecting the arrival of at least one more Christmas miracle on December 25.

“Delivering a Christmas baby is an extra special gift, bringing love and light to our shift on a day typically spent with family and friends,” says NormaLinda Aguirre-Partida, BSN, RNC-OB, Director of Women’s Services and Nursery, STHS Edinburg. “We’re thrilled to be part of this momentous occasion for the Guizar Family and the others who’ve entrusted us to be part of their maternity journey.”

To help create a lasting memory for the family, the staff at STHS Edinburg went the extra mile by providing Little Rebekah with a special Baby’s First Christmas onesie.

Emphasizing its dedication to providing women’s services at the highest level, STHS has consistently been a Healthgrades Five-Star Recipient for C-Section Delivery, Hysterectomy and Gynecology Procedures, placing the organization in the upper echelon of hospitals for OB/GYN care nationwide.
