Cutting edge technology and a passion to provide high quality services are the keys for Mobile X-Rays. The on demand medical service provides physicians and patients a way to perform bedside digital x-rays on site. Two years ago, Dago Barrera, a radiology technician with fifteen years experience and a degree in Applied Science in Radiology, saw a need; “I saw a need for a good mobile x-ray company that provides good patient care in a cost effective way”. That gave birth to Mobile X-Rays based in McAllen and providing service to the entire four-county valley area. They have several units, staff and equipment to cover and provide fast and professional service from one end of the valley to the other.
Mobile X-Rays provides numerous on-site services including x-rays, ultrasound, vascular Doppler, 2D echoes, and electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG).
“Our goal is to provide fast, efficient, and professional service to our physicians and patients,” says Barrera. “We strive to complete an order within forty five minutes. Physicians ordering test typically get a STAT report from a board certified Radiologist within 30 minutes of the completion.”
Physicians also have the ability to access x-rays and ultrasounds through a unique internet based system called PACs, Picture Archiving and Communication System. The HIPAA compliant website, (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 known as HIPAA is a government act which requires the protection and confidential handling of protected health information) provides physicians the ability to view the actual x-rays from any computer or smartphone within minutes of the test being completed. Barrera says, “With all the technology out there, I knew we could provide better service at a faster turn-around time.” When talking about the speed of the service, Barrera adds, “It’s faster than even the emergency rooms, with the convenience of the patient at their home.”
The obvious question is how does the service work. First, a physician provides the patient with an order for the particular test they need or calls Mobile X-rays. The office, once it receives the physician order, jumps into action finding the closest unit to the patient’s location. Mobile X-Rays does the rest, filing all the necessary paperwork to Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. Mobile X-Rays is an in-network provider to most private insurances.
Currently the list of clients continues to grow as more and more physicians learn about the service. Home health agencies, provider care services, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities also utilize this convenient service. Mobile X-Rays provides the service around the clock every day of the week including weekends and holidays. It is no longer necessary to wait until an office opens to get this much needed and potentially lifesaving service.
