In order to ensure that everyone who lives in the city of McAllen can receive any emergency alert message that may be transmitted, residents are encouraged to sign up for the City of McAllen emergency alert system. The city’s emergency alert system provides the ability to quickly deliver messages to residents in the event of an emergency situation such as a natural disaster.

Residents can register their phone numbers, either a mobile number or a landline, in the CodeRED database and will receive either a text message or a phone message. This system allows geographically based delivery, which means street addresses are required to ensure notification calls are received by residents during an emergency. Messages are delivered in English and Spanish to ensure that every resident who registers can receive and understand the message accurately.

“In the event of an emergency situation, it is vital that individuals are kept informed, whether it be evacuation alerts or hazardous conditions,” City of McAllen Emergency Operations Coordinator Kevin Pagan said. “The CodeRed emergency notification system allows us to reach individuals quickly and efficiently.”

The data collected will only be used for emergency notification purposes.  Those without internet service may call the City of McAllen 311 Customer Service Call Center by simply dialing 3-1-1 and provide their contact information over the phone. The CodeRED app is also available in the iTunes app store as well as Google Play; however, the app is not necessary to receive alerts on your phone.

Register here on the City of McAllen’s website and scroll down to the CodeRED link at the bottom of the page:  https://mcallen.net/departments/emergency or register directly here at https://public.coderedweb.com/CNE/en-US/0466FBCC06BD or follow this QR code to sign-up:
