DHR Health to Host Free Community Health Fair

Edinburg, Texas – DHR Health (DHR) announces its 14th Annual FREE DHR Community Health Fair, Saturday, January. 18, 2020, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance.  Dedicated to the health and wellness needs of families in the Rio Grande Valley, DHR Health clinicians will provide free health screenings, medical information, education, and health-related services, including: 

Visitors at the 13th Annual DHR Community Health Fair in 2019.
  • Cholesterol Screenings
  • Vision Exams
  • Glucose Checks
  • Blood Pressure Screenings
  • Fibroscans
  • Thyroid Scans
  • Liver Scans
  • Medical Weight Loss
  • Rehabilitation
  • Women’s Health
  • Behavioral Health
  • Flu Vaccines 
  • and much more

Several local healthcare entities will also be in attendance to provide free health screenings to help the community identify their risk of some of the following:

  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Stroke
  • Dental Problems

The DHR Health Trauma team will be on-site, parents will have the opportunity to ask about car seat safety, DHR’s Human Resources department will be present to discuss employment opportunities and pharmacists will be available to answer any questions about medications.

The 14th Annual DHR Community Health Fair is open to the public and all visitors will be eligible for exciting door prizes!

“We encourage our community to take advantage of this free event so that they can begin the new year with the tools and information they need to live a healthy lifestyle,” said Dr. Carlos Cardenas, Chairman of the Board, Chief Administrative Officer at DHR Health.  “Maintaining wellness and improving healthcare is an ongoing collaboration between patients and clinicians and should focus on prevention as much as possible. As a survivor of colon cancer, my motto is ‘don’t die of embarrassment when you can get your screenings.”

The community is encouraged to attend this FREE event.  The DHR Community Health Fair is open to the public and attendees will have the opportunity to engage one-on-one with healthcare providers and win exciting door prizes.  Over 2,000 community members attended the 2019 health fair, taking advantage of all of the FREE resources that were offered.  Local businesses and healthcare providers are invited to participate in the various booth sponsorship levels available for the 14th Annual FREE DHR Community Health Fair.  Please call the DHR Events Department at (956) 362-3140 for more information and to register your business today.
