“At DHR Health, the safety of our patients, staff, and visitors is our highest priority. It was reported that around noon on October 24, 2024, a male in his 20s was parked in his car waiting to pick up his girlfriend, who was finishing her work shift. The subject’s car was parked towards the back of the main hospital at DHR Health, located at Dove Avenue and McColl Road, when a gun he had accidentally discharged, resulting in a gunshot wound to his leg. The Edinburg Police Department responded to the scene, and he was taken to DHR Health’s Level I Trauma Center. He is being treated for his injuries and is expected to recover. The police will continue to investigate the situation. No other individuals were hurt.”
