Edinburg, TX — DHR Health is pleased to announce Leonel Jorge Favio Estofan, M.D., has joined the DHR Health Neuroscience Institute.  Dr. Estofan will be the only fellowship trained physician specializing in treating adult and adolescent patients for epilepsy in the Rio Grande Valley.

The DHR Health Neuroscience Institute is the first Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in the region and a Level I Comprehensive Stroke Center providing the Rio Grande Valley comprehensive medical services for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system. 

As part of the Neuroscience Institute, Dr. Estofan brings with him extensive expertise in epilepsy, providing the area with a wide range of treatment options.  He will be accepting patients at the DHR Health Neuroscience Institute, located at 2821 Michael Angelo Drive, Suite 200 in Edinburg, Texas.

Dr. Estofan earned his medical degree at Universidad Nacional de Tucuman in Tucuman, Argentina.  He completed his internship in internal medicine at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Lansdowne, PA before completing a neurology residency at Drexel University Colleague of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.  He then attended the University of Cincinnati in Ohio where he completed a year of training in high complex cases of neurocritical care and a fellowship in epilepsy.  

He was trained under the guidance of distinguished physician, Dr. Michael Privitera, who is dedicated to advancing research and education for preventing, treating and curing epilepsy.  In addition to his medical career, Dr. Estofan is the author of numerous book chapters and has several peer reviewed journal publications and is a member of several professional societies, including the American Neurological Association and American Epilepsy Society.
