EDINBURG, Texas –  DHR Health, one of the largest physician-owned hospitals in the United States and a proud healthcare provider for the Rio Grande Valley since 1997, is pleased to welcome Dr. Jorge Casquero Leon to its renowned women’s health team. Casquero is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with a deep commitment to women’s health and a strong background in diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the female reproductive system. His services encompass a wide range of care, from non-complicated to high-risk pregnancies, as well as innovative minimally invasive gynecological surgery. Fluent in Spanish, Casquero is passionate about making quality care more accessible for the Valley’s Spanish speaking community.

Casquero brings a diverse and accomplished background to DHR Health. He earned his medical degree from Cayetano Heredia University in Peru and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Jamaica Hospital in New York, where he gained extensive experience working with patients from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. He has received multiple honors, including the Excellence in Obstetrics Award from the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the Excellence in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery Award from the American Urogynecology Society.

Prior to joining DHR Health, Casquero was with the UTRGV School of Medicine and held several leadership roles, including Director of the Surgical Curriculum, Associate Program Director for the OBGYN residency, and Division Chief of the Women’s and Children’s Health. He was also recognized with multiple teaching awards, including the Council for Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) National Faculty Award and Teacher of the Year Award. 

Alongside his passion for teaching, Casquero is committed to providing evidence-based, high quality, patient-centered care to the women of the Rio Grande Valley. He emphasizes the importance of understanding each patients’ unique needs and values the strong connections he builds with patients and their families. 

“The most important thing to me is caring for my patients and understanding that each one has unique needs. It’s not just about treating the medical condition; it’s about understanding the individual’s unique needs, offering personalized support, and providing tailored treatment,” said Casquero.
