EDINBURG, Texas – DHR Health, one of the largest physician-owned hospitals in the United States and proudly serving the Rio Grande Valley since 1997, is excited to welcome Dr. Andres Saenz to the DHR Health Neurology Institute. As a board-certified neurologist, Saenz specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of neurological conditions, including headaches, chronic migraines, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and more. Saenz will serve both as a neurohospitalist and an outpatient neurologist, ensuring comprehensive neurological care for patients across the RGV. A Valley native and bilingual in Spanish, Saenz is excited to return home and contribute to the well-being of the community that shaped him.

“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Saenz to the DHR Health Neurology Institute,” said Marissa Castañeda, senior executive vice president at DHR Health. “As we continue to expand access to top-quality neurological care in the Rio Grande Valley, we know our community will greatly benefit from his dedication and skill.” Saenz earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Texas Pan-American before obtaining his medical degree and completing his neurology residency at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Alongside his clinical work, Saenz is passionate about teaching and mentoring future healthcare professionals. He has trained medical students and residents in neurology and was recognized with the Award for Excellence in Teaching at UTHSA, a testament to his dedication to education and advancing the field of neurology.

Saenz’s passion for neurology comes from his deep fascination with the brain and central nervous system—there’s so much we know, yet still so much to uncover. He was drawn to the field by its complexity and the profound impact neurological conditions can have on everyday functions like speech and movement—things we often take for granted until they’re affected. “Whenever I see a patient, I make sure to listen carefully to all their concerns, no matter how small, because even the tiniest detail can be the key to a diagnosis,” said Saenz. “Some cases that seem simple can turn out to be complex, and sometimes it’s the other way around. That’s why I approach every patient with an open mind, take a thorough approach, and make sure they fully understand their condition and treatment options.”

Saenz is accepting new patients at the DHR Health Neurology Institute located at 2108 S. M Street, Suite 4 in McAllen. To schedule an appointment, call (956) 362-8500. DHR Health accepts a variety of health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.
