DHR Health Offers Free Medical Skills Labs for Hands-On Practitioner Training, July 23rd & 24th

ATHLETIC SAFETY CONFERENCE: The 4th Annual Texas Emergency Athletic Management Seminar (TEAMS), a free event hosted by DHR Health and the Valley Athletic Trainers Association (VATA), will take place on July 23 and 24, 2026 at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance. EDINBURG, Texas – DHR Health, together with the Valley Athletic Trainers Association (VATA), will once again collaborate for the 4th Annual Texas Emergency Athletic Management Seminar (TEAMS) event.

This free event will be held on July 23 and 24 at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, located at 118 Paseo Del Prado. The event is specifically geared to school athletic trainers, nurses, physicians, emergency medical service personnel, and those who work closely with student athletes.

The first day of the event will offer insightful presentations with DHR Health physicians and special guest speakers. The second day will offer hands-on skills lab sessions that focus on sharpening the skills of athletic trainers.

HANDS-ON TRAINING: On the second day, the event shifts to practical learning with several hands-on skills lab sessions designed to sharpen the expertise of event attendees. “It is with great pride that we co-host this 4th annual event with VATA. This seminar gets better and better each year as we continue to offer local athletic trainers and others valuable hands-on education and practical training in emergency management and sports medicine. This seminar ultimately helps our youth and student athletes,” said Marissa Castaneda, senior executive vice president at DHR Health.

•           Emergency Actions Plans

Dr. Sujan Gogu, DHR Health sports and pain medicine physician, will open the seminar on July 23 with a presentation on “Abdominal and Thoracic Injuries.”

This event reaffirms DHR Health’s and VATA’s commitment to advancing medical knowledge and empowering healthcare professionals and all those involved in the care of student athletes.
