Edinburg, Texas: The DHR Health Neuroscience Institute is pleased to announce a free informational seminar designed to educate the public on recent advancements, innovations, and breakthroughs in medical treatments for epilepsy, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease. The event, titled “Advancements in Treating Epilepsy, Stroke, and Alzheimer’s,” will take place at 5:30 p.m. on June 27, 2024 at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, located at 118 Paseo Del Prado in Edinburg.

The community education session will feature a panel of DHR Health neuroscience physicians and the director of the Neuro Therapy Institute, who will field questions from the audience in both English and Spanish. 

Event panelists will include:
 
Dr. Juan Torres-Reveron, Neurosurgeon/Epilepsy Surgery
Dr. Patricia Fernandez, Neurointerventional Radiologist
Dr. R. Alejandro Cruz, Neurology/Neuro-Immunology and Multiple Sclerosis 
Dr. Leonel Estofan, Neurologist/Adult and Adolescent Epilepsy
Michael Auer, PT, DPT, Director of DHR Health Neuro Therapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation Institute

Participants can expect to gain insights into new therapies, medications, surgical techniques, diagnostic tools in the field of neuroscience, and ongoing research aimed at enhancing outcomes and quality of life for patients with these neurological disorders. Additionally, information will be provided on Leqembi, an FDA-approved medication for early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, recently administered for the first time south of San Antonio at DHR Health in the Rio Grande Valley.

The community health informational seminar is free and open to the public. However, registration is encouraged by calling (956) 362-5326. Healthy refreshments will be available. This event is held in observance of National Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, annually recognized in the month of June.
