Cancer Survivor Walk 2014 Celebrating our Superheroes

Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, Cancer Center at Renaissance and the Renaissance Cancer Foundation will be hosting “Cancer Survivor Walk- Celebrating our Superheroes” to honor cancer survivors in the Rio Grande Valley.

Edinburg, TX- 06/20/2014- Cancer Survivor Walk, Celebrating our Superheroes, is an event with a purpose to celebrate the triumphs of our local cancer survivors, while spreading awareness on cancer. Cancer survivors will get the opportunity to stand alongside their family, friends and loved ones as they walk to celebrate their lives.

The highest risks cancers in our area are: colon, prostate, breast and cervical. We invite you to join us, and to encourage others to participate in this event that will provide information on early detection and prevention, while celebrating cancer survivors in our community.

The celebration will take place on Monday, June 30 at 6:00 p.m. at the Parking Lot of Joslin & Renaissance on the Corner of Dove & Doctors Drive. Cancer survivors and participants will enter for free and the first 200 participants to R.S.V.P. will receive a free t-shirt. Refreshments will be provided. The Renaissance Cancer Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide support for cancer patients in the Rio Grande Valley. The Renaissance Cancer Foundation main focus is to build community awareness while providing cancer education, emotional support, and financial assistance or guidance for underserved patients. Funding provides assistance with chemotherapy treatment, surgeries to remove tumors, screening tests, transportation, and lodging, assistance with utility bills, massage therapy services, nutritional supplements, and products like wigs and hair scarves for hair loss caused by chemotherapy.

Please join us in this great celebration! Participants of all ages are welcome to attend, and encouraged to bring the cancer survivors in their family or circle of friends to celebrate their life.
