Thanks to Taco Bell supporters who “rounded up,” the American Cancer Society(ACS) is honored to accept a grant for $559,100 from the Taco Bell Foundation and Southern Multifoods, LLC (SMI). SMI has been a proud partner of ACS since 2009, first engaging through the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event in Jacksonville, Texas, where SMI is headquartered. With nearly $4.8 million raised over 15 years, SMI’s investment has made a significant impact in the fight against cancer. This year’s contribution, given by way of a grant from the Taco Bell Foundation, will support the ACS Center for Innovation in Cancer Research Training, a transformative initiative that equips the next generation of scientists and healthcare professionals to lead the future of cancer research and care.

“We fund programs at institutions that offer high school, college, or post-baccalaureate trainees hands-on cancer research or care experience under the guidance of established investigators,” said Jenny Todd, vice president of the American Cancer Society. “The ACS Cancer Research Training provides access to high-quality training and career development, ultimately shaping the next generation of visionary leaders dedicated to transforming cancer research and revolutionizing patient care.”

This meaningful partnership aligns with the Taco Bell Foundation’s mission to uplift and empower youth through education, mentorship, and career readiness, helping to ensure brighter futures for underserved communities.

“The Taco Bell Foundation supports nonprofit organizations that provide direct services for youth academic success, mentorship, college and career exploration and readiness, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, 21st-century skills, and socio-emotional well-being,” said Joanna Mendoza, Director of Marketing and Digital for Southern Multifoods, LLC. “Our partners help uplift and empower at-risk, underperforming, and underrepresented youth, and the American Cancer Society Center for Innovation in Cancer Research Training does just that.”

The grant was made possible by something small: spare change. With an average Round Up donation of just 44 cents, Taco Bell fans – and the Team Members who inspire them –helped power life-changing impact across the nation.
