EDINBURG, Texas – The Renaissance Cancer Foundation, a distinguished non-profit organization affiliated with DHR Health, proudly announced the success of its recent “Feel the Love” Gala held on November 16, 2024, at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance. This year’s event raised an impressive $450,194 to further its mission of supporting underserved cancer patients in Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr, and Willacy Counties.

A cancer diagnosis and the battle that follows can be overwhelming; those facing this journey should not have the additional burden of worrying about how to pay for treatment, how to get to appointments, or where to access essential resources. This is why the Renaissance Cancer Foundation hosts its annual gala—to fuel its mission of providing critical support to underserved cancer patients through financial aid, transportation assistance, oncology wigs, and more.

“This event is one of the most important for our organization. It allows us to continue addressing the needs of those who are navigating one of life’s most challenging hurdles. We would not be able to achieve this without the generous donations from our sponsors, especially our diamond sponsors Bert Ogden Buick GMC, DHR Health, Lone Star National Bank, Luby’s Culinary Services, Millennium Copier Systems, Dale Linebarger, and Gonzalez Castillo, LLP,” said Evelyn Saenz, Executive Director of the Renaissance Cancer Foundation.

This year’s gala featured a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception, a silent auction, and live music. Headlining the gala was the multi-talented Michael Cavanaugh, who brought his extraordinary abilities to the music of legendary songwriters such as Elton John, Billy Joel, and Lionel Richie.

“The Renaissance Cancer Foundation does incredible work supporting cancer patients in our community. It’s about more than just treatment—it’s about providing the comprehensive care and resources patients need to navigate this journey. We’re proud to support this mission and be part of such an impactful event,” said Marissa Castaneda, DHR Health Senior Executive Vice President.
