RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas – DHR Health is thrilled announce an upcoming “Meet and Greet” event for residents of Starr County featuring Dr. Shravan Narmala, an Oncologist/Hematologist with DHR Health at its Advanced Care Center. Since February, Dr. Narmala has been seeing patients in the Starr County. As a physician who specializes in blood diseases, bleeding disorders, and cancers, Dr. Narmala is eager to connect with the community and raise cancer awareness.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held September 20, 2023 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the DHR Health Specialty Clinic located 101 N. FM 3167, Ste. 106 in Rio Grande City. Anyone interested in attending may RSVP by sending an email to c.chapa@dhr-rgv.com. From a prospective patient’s perspective, this event will offer the opportunity to get to know Dr. Narmala, ask questions, and discuss health goals and general treatment options.

“We encourage you to share this invitation with your family, friends, and colleagues, as it promises to be an informative and engaging event,” said Anabel Rodriguez-Arellano, DHR Health Director Patient Relations for the Advanced Care Center. “Dr. Narmala is truly an expert in his field.”

After earning his medical degree from Osmania Medical College of India, Dr. Narmala attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, earning a Master of Public Health. He then attended Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he completed his residency in internal medicine/pediatrics and pursued a fellowship in hematology/oncology. 

Dr. Narmala also expressed his enthusiasm at meeting Starr County’s residents. “It’s been my lifelong goal to increase awareness about cancer risk and prevention—especially amongst traditionally underserved communities,” he said. “I look forward to meeting everyone and answering any questions they have.”
