DHR Health Now Offering New Covid-19 Boosters

EDINBURG, Texas – The new Pfizer COVID-19 bivalent boosters have arrived at DHR Health with 9,000 doses available to the public. The vaccine clinic team will begin administering the boosters today (Friday) at 1:00pm and will continue until 8pm. Normal hours resume for all doses next Tuesday through Friday. 

The DHR Health Vaccine Clinic is currently located at the Edinburg Activity Center at 123 E. Mark S. Pena Drive in Edinburg, Texas. 

There is no ID or paperwork required other than a vaccine card if you’ve already received a COVID vaccine.

The new bivalent boosters were developed to generate an immune response from the original COVID-19 virus, as well as the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants.

The Pfizer/BioNtech bivalent booster is available to individuals age 12 and older, but have not yet been authorized for children under 12.

Residents seeking the new booster must be fully vaccinated, meaning they must have received the two-dose primary series of Pfizer, Moderna, or Novavax, or at least one shot of the Janssen vaccine. DHR Health currently only provides Pfizer vaccines, which now include the bivalent booster for those 12 and older who received their last dose of any COVID-19 vaccine at least two months prior.
