Some racial and ethnic minority groups are experiencing higher rates of COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, and death compared to other groups. Conditions in which people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age – known as social determinants of health – have a major effect on health risks and outcomes. Long-standing systemic health and social inequities have put many people from racial and ethnic minority groups at increased risk for COVID-19.

CDC’s COVID-19 Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities resources provide information about exposure to the virus, illness, hospitalization, and deaths among minority groups. The resources also discuss ways to move towards health equity, which is when everyone has the opportunity to be as healthy as possible.
