Edinburg, TX – DHR Health recognized the countless emergency medical service (EMS) personnel who are very often first on the scene to help an injured or ill patient.  DHR Health visited numerous EMS and Fire Departments between Mercedes and Starr County to show appreciation to our heroes.

EMS have been instrumental in working with the DHR Health Functioning Level I Trauma Team and through this COVID-19 pandemic.  Many patients concerned with the virus have delayed going to a hospital for care, which has led to complications and required care from EMS personnel.  EMS have been delivering outstanding care to our community throughout this pandemic and DHR Health is proud to support these volunteers and professionals who continue to safely deliver care to patients in need.

DHR Health honored the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s’ “front line” by showing gratitude.  DHR Health had refreshments available at the Emergency Department for all EMS to enjoy and visited several EMS and Fire Departments throughout the community.  Physicians and staff delivered treats that included pastries and T-shirts and even partnered up with Prime by Il Forno (located in McAllen, TX), who helped make this occasion possible by providing a delicious menu such as lasagna, pizza, and salad to celebrate EMS Week.

During EMS Week, and through the year, DHR Health would like to say “thank you” to all EMS who fearlessly and tirelessly serve our community and help patients and their families.  DHR appreciates the efforts of all EMS personnel as they are working to ensure that safeguarding the health, safety, and wellbeing of the community is their top priority.
