PORT ISABEL, Texas – DHR Health continues its commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities it serves throughout the Rio Grande Valley by engaging with local organizations to inform residents about the advanced and specialized care that is available to them, close to home.

Recently, Dr. Angela Lomas, bariatric surgeon at the DHR Health Brownsville Multispecialty Clinic, presented to members of the Port Isabel Rotary Club about the benefits of metabolic bariatric surgery and how these procedures can help patients achieve significant, long-term weight loss and improve their overall health.

During her presentation, Dr. Lomas discussed how obesity is a complex medical condition that can increase the risk of serious health concerns such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and sleep apnea and other chronic conditions.
