McALLEN, Texas –13-year-old Leukemia Patient, Chloe Villegas, was born with the gift of music. A gift that has gotten her through her treatment since her diagnosis earlier last year. Performing usually to judges, crowds, and her family, Chloe takes the stage for a different audience now: her fellow patients and the Rio Grande Valley.

Chloe is known to sing regularly around the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic; however, last Wednesday, during her regularly scheduled checkup, she came prepared with something special.

“Her two brothers, mom, and grandmother accompanied her for Wednesday’s treatment, and they put on a special performance for the clinic.” Writes Yadhira Huerta, Social Worker for the Vannie Cook Clinic, “This family uses music as a way to cope with the situation that they are in.”
