Ahead of the opening night of Disney On Ice’s Jump In! tour at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, South Texas Health System (STHS) Children’s partnered with Feld Entertainment on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, to bring Disney magic to the pediatric patients in the hospital’s care.

During the surprise visit, patients and their families enjoyed a special coloring activity and engaging Q&A session with Katrina (Cat) Lopez, a professional figure skater and seasoned Disney On Ice performer.

“Being able to spend time with these kids and their families is incredibly meaningful,” said Lopez, who portraysPrincess Jasmine in Disney On Ice’s Jump In! tour. “If we can bring even a few moments of joy, laughter or wonder to their day, that’s something we’ll always carry with us. This experience reminds us why we do what we do.”

The experience concluded with an unforgettable meet-and-greet with the one and only Mickey Mouse, whose cheerful presence brought joy and smiles to patients of all ages.

“My son is 17 and was shy at first, but meeting Mickey in person for the first time made his whole face light up,” said Michelle Cruz, mother of an STHS Children’s patient. “Seeing him smile and feel energized again gave our family hope and reminded him that brighter days are ahead once he’s strong enough to go home.”

After the event concluded in the hospital’s third-floor pediatric playroom, Mickey continued spreading joy with bedside visits to patients who were unable to attend due to medical restrictions.

As part of their magical Disney experience, patients received a variety of Disney and Disney On Ice-themed items.

“Spending the afternoon with STHS Children’s patients and their families was truly heartlifting, as Mickey and Cat Lopez brought moments of joy, comfort and wonder to children facing incredibly difficult days,” said Tom Castañeda, System Director of Marketing & Public Relations, STHS. “We’re deeply grateful that they were able to visit our hospital and share a bit of Disney magic with our patients, reminding them and their families they are not alone and that brighter days are ahead.”

Disney On Ice’s Jump In! tour brings nonstop excitement with more than 50 beloved characters, including new segments from Moana 2, Inside Out 2, Zootopia, Encanto and Frozen. The highenergy production skates into Bert Ogden Arena Thursday, April 16, through Sunday, April 19. For showtimes and tickets, visit the Bert Ogden Arena website.
