Edinburg, TX — DHR Health is pleased to announce Fernando Membreño, M.D., MSc has joined the DHR Health Transplant Institute – Liver Specialty Center.  He is board certified in Transplant Hepatology and devoted to caring for patients with liver diseases and focuses on advancing liver therapies for fatty liver and liver cancer through research.

As part of the DHR Health Transplant Institute – Liver Specialty Center, he will offer a wide range of treatments for pre-and post-transplant care. He will be seeing patients at the Liver Specialty Center located at 1100 East Dove Avenue, Suite 202 in McAllen, TX.  The Liver Specialty Center offers comprehensive medical services for conditions such as hepatitis, cirrhosis and fatty liver disease.  

Dr. Membreño graduated from medical school at the Autonomous School of Medicine in San Jose, Costa Rica.  He completed an internal medicine residency at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, New York.  That is where he found his desire to help those suffering with liver disease and decided to pursue a gastroenterology/ hepatology fellowship and a Master of Science degree in clinical research at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.  He further specialized in Liver Transplantation at the University of Colorado. In addition to his extensive education, he is a member of a number of professional organizations including the American Association for the Study of liver Diseases and the European Association for the Study of liver Diseases.
