One question sparked it all: Could the number of cancer deaths be lowered by empowering people to take a more active role in their health? Learn from CDC’s Dr. Lisa Richardson about how EmPOWERed Health, a new CDC and CDC Foundation program, is aiming to improve cancer prevention and outcomes. Dr. Richardson shares the goals of EmPOWERed Health and the importance of empowering individuals to seek the care they need for cancer prevention and treatment, and to take actions to stay healthy: “Empowerment can result in more people getting cancer screenings, a greater feeling of control during cancer diagnosis and treatment, and a better care plan for cancer survivors.”

Several members of the EmPOWERed Health community also share how empowerment has made a difference in their physical and mental health. Join the EmPOWERed Health community on Instagram.
