AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott appointed Rick Siewert, D.O. to the Texas Medical Board (TMB) District Three Review Committee for a term set to expire on January 15, 2030.

Rick Siewert, D.O. of Amarillo, is a self-employed physician with 43 years of experience in rural family practice and emergency room medicine. He is a member of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, an aviation medical examiner with the Federal Aviation Administration, and a medical examiner with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration – Department of Transportation. Siewert received an Associate of Science in Pre-Medical from Amarillo College, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston, and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine.

 Insomnia is not only associated with poor sleep and reduced daytime functioning, but may also be an indicator of increased health risks. An international review by the European Academy of Neurology, in collaboration with MedUni Vienna, shows a link to stroke, hospital admissions and several neurological and mental health conditions. The findings were published in the high ranking journal “Sleep Medicine Reviews”.

The month of October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” and DHR Health’s Oncology Institute will host “Walk and Talk with a Doc” event on October 1, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. The free event will take place at the DHR Health Heart Institute parking lot, located at 5525 Doctors Drive in Edinburg.
