Edinburg, TX — DHR Health Clinics is pleased to announce the addition of Jose R. Carreras, M.D., who will be joining the expansion of the DHR Health Orthopedic Institute. The DHR Health Orthopedic Institute has opened its doors to a 2nd location in Mission, Texas, where Dr. Carreras will be using his extensive experience to provide orthopedic services to the community.  

Dr. Carreras joins DHR Health with over 35 years of experience and offers a complete range of orthopedic services and orthopedic surgery to the Rio Grande Valley.  He will be seeing patients at the newest DHR Health Orthopedic Institute, located at 1313 St. Claire, Mission, Texas, where he will be offering services for joint pain relief, back pain relief, bone fractures, knee and hip replacements, tendon or ligament injuries, herniated discs and dislocations.  

With the expansion, the DHR Health Orthopedic Institute is now home to four locations and offers the community general orthopedic medicine for sports injuries and reconstructive surgery in both Edinburg and Mission, Texas.  The DHR Health Orthopedic Institute offers multispecialty diagnostics as well as surgical and rehabilitation programs to help patients return to their highest level of performance and back to their daily activities.

Dr. Carreras received his medical degree from Autonomus University in Guadalajara, Mexico.  He completed his general surgery residency at San Juan City Hospital in Puerto Rico and at Howard University in Washington, D.C. and his orthopedic surgery residency at Thomason Hospital UTEP located in El Paso, Texas.
