Edinburg, TX—Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) hosted the 10th Annual “Fishing for Hope Tournament” on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island, Texas. The 10th year proved to be the biggest yet—with over 800 anglers, “Fishing for Hope” is now the largest non-profit tournament on the Texas coast. This year the tournament featured a live concert, dinner, the legendary stars auction, and of course, fishing! Over 200 boats came out to join the effort to raise funds, enjoy the festivities.

With the support of our generous community members, and through the tournament planning committee’s diligent efforts, the 10th Annual “Fishing for Hope” tournament raised $275,000 for the Hope Family Health Center (HFHC). Providing low-cost health services in an open and accepting atmosphere, HFHC is run by local volunteer physicians and staff, all of which provide their time and services without charge. DHR is honored to host an event that has raised over $1.6 million in the last 10 years for Rio Grande Valley residents that have little to no medical insurance.

Rebecca Stocker, Executive Director of the Hope Family Health Center, states, “The commitment that Doctors Hospital at Renaissance has to the health of our community is truly humbling. They are the largest local financial contributor to the Hope Family Health Center, and our strongest advocate in promoting health in the Rio Grande Valley.”

Stocker continues, “It is a blessing to a part of a fundraiser where, regardless of other projects Doctors Hospital at Renaissance has, or how large they may be, they have never forgotten the importance of helping those in need.”

Stocker continues, “On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of the Hope Family Health Center, I want to thank Doctors Hospital at Renaissance for an amazing 10 years. Israel Rocha (DHR CEO) said that HFHC performed ‘miracles for those in need,’ but DHR is a large help in creating those miracles.”

Doctors Hospital at Renaissance would like to thank the generous supporters and sponsors of the 10th Annual “Fishing for Hope” Tournament. We look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come, and to provide even more support to the Hope Family Health Center and their incredible dedication to our communit
