Edinburg, Texas — DHR Health Women’s Hospital rang in the New Year with a joyful milestone: the birth of its first baby of 2026.

Baby Azeneth Murillo was born at 3:27 a.m. on New Year’s Day, weighing 6 pounds, 5 ounces and measuring 19¼ inches long. Proud parents Evelyn Michelle De Leon and Noel Murillo were overjoyed to welcome their baby girl into the world. The delivery was attended by Dr. Alejandro Tey, who shared in the family’s excitement.

“We are proud to welcome the first baby of 2026,” said Annabelle Salinas, Vice President of Women’s Hospital at DHR Health. “This is a meaningful moment for the family and a wonderful way for our hospital team to begin the new year.”

Continuing a cherished tradition, DHR Health Women’s Hospital presented the family with a special gift basket filled with baby essentials, celebratory items, and a gift card to commemorate the occasion.

Located at 5502 S. McColl Road in Edinburg, DHR Health Women’s Hospital provides comprehensive care for women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery. The hospital is the only Level IV Maternal Care facility in the Rio Grande Valley. It is a recognized participant in the Texas 10 Step Program, supporting breastfeeding and maternal-infant health.
