DHR Health is pleased to announce that the RGV Women’s Chamber of Commerce has honored Dr. Haissam “Sam” Elzaim, orthopedic surgeon with the “healthcare excellence” award. He received the award on September 10 during the Chamber’s “Night of Valor” event held at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance. The healthcare excellence award honors physicians who exemplify medical excellence as well as compassionate, patient-centered care. Elzaim was selected for his outstanding commitment to providing healthcare services, specifically his dedication to serving veterans and addressing their orthopedic needs. 

“This honor is a testament to Dr. Elzaim’s dedication to the community and the trust he has earned from patients,” said Marissa Castaneda, DHR Health senior executive vice president. “We are proud to have physicians like Dr. Elzaim on our team who are committed to improving the health and well-being of our community.”

Elzaim was honored, along with other honorees, at the event who each received awards in their respective areas. Each honoree was presented with a glass award and given a certificate from the U.S. Senate.

“I am deeply honored to receive this accolade because it represents the voice of my patients. My greatest goal as an orthopedic surgeon is to help people return to their normal way of life, free from pain” said Elzaim. 

Elzaim has been a physician for over 22 years and has been with DHR Health for eight years. 
Known for his minimally invasive techniques, treating sports injuries, and for providing high- quality, personal care, Elzaim is board certified in orthopedic surgery, specializing in joint replacement, sports medicine and fracture care.
