Aida Coronado Garcia, FNP, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at DHR Health in Brownsville, highlighted this significant development during an exclusive conversation.

Aida Coronado Garcia, FNP, originally from Brownsville, Texas, has been a cornerstone of DHR Health for the past eight years. With a robust background that spans 15 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Coronado Garcia brings a blend of clinical insight and executive leadership that is rare in the healthcare industry. “My clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner has been instrumental in shaping my approach to healthcare management,” Coronado Garcia explains. “It allows me to see things from both the patient’s perspective and the operational side, ensuring that every decision we make prioritizes patient outcomes.”

The system translates the surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body. Her journey from a direct healthcare provider to a high-ranking management role highlights her versatility and deep understanding of patient care and healthcare’s business aspects. Coronado Garcia’s role at DHR Health involves overseeing daily operations, but her impact goes far beyond that. One of her significant contributions has spearheaded the acquisition and implementation of advanced medical technologies, such as the latest da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system.

“Bringing the da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system to Brownsville is a pivotal moment for our community,” Coronado Garcia proudly states. This technology represents the latest in robotic-assisted surgery, and we are the only hospital in the Rio Grande Valley offering it.” The da Vinci 5 system, known for its precision and minimally invasive capabilities, is expected to dramatically improve surgical outcomes, reduce recovery times, and enhance overall patient satisfaction.

Coronado Garcia’s deep clinical background played a crucial role in this achievement. “My experience in patient care has always guided my decisions, especially when adopting new technologies,” she notes. “I knew the Da Vinci 5 system would be a game-changer for our patients, providing them with access to the best possible care right here in Brownsville without needing to travel to larger cities.”

Coronado Garcia’s vision for DHR Health is clear: to make the hospital a leader in the region’s high-quality, technologically advanced medical care. “We want our community to know they don’t have to leave Brownsville to receive top-tier medical services. We have the tools, the technology, and the expertise right here,” she asserts.

Her commitment to innovation is firm, as she seeks to introduce more cutting-edge technologies and minimally invasive surgical options. “We aim to stay at the forefront of medical advancements, ensuring that our patients always have access to the latest and most effective treatments,” Coronado Garcia says.
