PHARR, Texas – The City of Pharr is proud to announce that Pharr EMS has introduced TRAUMAGEL® into its emergency medical response system, becoming the first EMS service in the Rio Grande Valley and south of Houston to use this innovative, life-saving technology.

TRAUMAGEL® is a plant-based hemostatic gel designed to control moderate to severe bleeding in seconds. Applied directly to a wound, the gel conforms to the injury site to rapidly control bleeding, helping stabilize patients until they receive advanced medical care. It is supplied in a 30 mL sterile prefilled syringe, requires no preparation, and is easy to apply and remove, making it highly effective in emergency situations.

Watch the video from the City of Pharr below:

TRAUMAGEL® is the only flowable hemostatic gel with U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance for temporary external use to control moderate to severe bleeding. Developed and manufactured by Cresilon, the product utilizes proprietary hydrogel technology and is the first hemostatic gel deployable by syringe that requires no preparation for traumatic bleeding.

Each Pharr EMS ambulance and command vehicle will be equipped with one unit of TRAUMAGEL®, ensuring immediate access during trauma calls. Training for all Pharr EMS staff has been completed, with additional training planned for medical staff within the Pharr Police and Fire Departments to support coordinated emergency response efforts.

Pharr EMS is proud to strengthen pre-hospital care and lead the adoption of advanced emergency medical technologies in the Rio Grande Valley.
