RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – In preparation for a strong cold front expected to impact the Rio Grande Valley, multiple warming centers and shelters will open to ensure the safety of residents throughout the region. Local municipalities, churches, and non-profit organizations are coordinating to provide temporary relief from freezing temperatures.

Edinburg

Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library – Warming Center

  • Location: 1906 S. Closner Blvd., Edinburg
  • Schedule:
    • Sunday, Jan. 25 at 5 p.m. – Monday, Jan. 26 at 9 a.m.
    • Reopens Monday, Jan. 26 at 5 p.m. – Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 9 a.m.
  • What to Bring: Pillow and blanket, non‑perishable snacks, necessary medications
  • Pets: Not allowed
    The library will remain open during standard business hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m
