EDINBURG, Texas – DHR Health will host its 14th Annual International Behavioral Medicine Conference on November 8 and 9, 2024, at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance. The conference is open to all medical professionals, including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, social workers, licensed professional counselors, psychologists and mental health providers for a small registration fee. First responders and law enforcement and students interested in the field of social work may attend free of charge. The focus of the conference is to inform participants of various mental health issues, providing informational access to leading authorities in the field of behavioral medicine and other valuable resources.

Among the distinguished guest speakers for the conference is Dr. Phillip Resnick, renowned Forensic Psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry at Case School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Resnick’s extensive career includes serving as a consultant in many high-profile cases, including those of Jeffrey Dahmer, Susan Smith, Timothy McVeigh, Andrea Yates, Scott Peterson, Casey Anthony, Theodore Kaczynski, and James Holmes. His insights and expertise promise to provide attendees with invaluable knowledge and perspectives on the intricacies of behavioral medicine. He will speak about bipolar behaviors. The conference will showcase a diverse array of presentations tackling pressing issues in behavioral medicine. Experts from across the country will cover a range of topics in psychiatry, including postpartum depression, substance use disorders, updates on autism, and advancements in dementia research, among others.

The driving force behind the organization of this conference is DHR Health Psychiatrist, Jose E. Igoa, M.D. Dr. Igoa has been dedicated to educating the community, physicians, and law enforcement personnel about the critical importance of psychiatry in addressing mental health challenges.
