The NCLEX-RN® and NCLEX-PN® are paramount in evaluating the competencies of nursing candidates across the United States and parts of Canada. Gabriel Cedeno’s involvement in the item development panel, held in Chicago, IL, from December 12-16, 2023, reflects his profound knowledge and experience in nursing, particularly in his clinical specialty of Pediatrics. 

Gabriel’s journey in nursing is one of perseverance and passion. Originally from Puerto Rico, he embarked on his educational odyssey with a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and Theater in 2004, a pursuit driven by the lack of support in his initial nursing aspirations. However, his inherent calling for nursing led him to acquire a Vocational Nursing Certification and License in 2011, followed by a commendable journey to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2016.

Since joining Rio Grande Valley College in 2019, Gabriel has been instrumental as the Lead Pediatric Nurse Educator in the Vocational Nursing Program. His journey from an unfulfilled dream to touching the lives of hundreds of patients and students exemplifies his unwavering dedication to nursing. His story is not just one of professional achievement but of inspiring transformation and relentless pursuit of one’s calling. 

Gabriel’s selection by the NCSBN is a testament to his exceptional skill set and an acknowledgment of his significant contributions to nursing education. His role in shaping future nurses through the NCLEX is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of nursing care and education.
