5 Staff Among Top 10 In State Health & Wellness Contest

This spring, McAllen ISD won its division for the second year in a row in the statewide contest known as It’s Time Texas Community Challenge. Recently, McAllen ISD staff members who finished in the top 10 among individuals received certificates of their achievement in the health and wellness competition. 

The honorees included Melissa Leal (Sanchez Elementary), Angelica Cazares (Sanchez), Erick Morin (Instruction & Guidance Center), Karen Teverovsky (I&G) and Tony Harris (I&G). Teverovsky, in fact, was the overall points leader in this year’s contest.

The It’s Time Texas Community Challenge is a statewide effort to improve health and wellness by pitting communities and school districts against each other in a friendly competition. Points are earned through exercise and healthy eating. Nearly 300 communities across Texas participated in this year’s challenge.
