Edinburg, TX— Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) is pleased to announce it was named among Becker’s Hospital Review’s Top “82 Physician Owned Hospitals to Know.” The report, which was issued last month, highlights some of the highest performing hospitals that are partly or fully owned by physicians.
In the United States, there are approximately 240 physician-owned hospitals. The 82 hospitals on Becker’s Hospital Review’slist have earned recognition from various reputable sources, including Truven Health Analytics, Healthgrades, The Joint Commission, Press Ganey and CareChex. They have also earned high scores from CMS’ Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey. The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team chose hospitals for inclusion based on these accolades.
As evidence of the success that led Doctors Hospital at Renaissance to be named among the Top “82 Physician-Owned Hospitals to Know,” DHR was ranked among U.S. News and World Reports “Best Hospitals” for 2013-2014, receiving high achievement marks in seven specialty areas—cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, and pulmonology. DHR was the only hospital in the Rio Grande Valley to receive a top-performing ranking in 2013-2014. In addition to its seven high achievement marks, DHR was named the Best Hospital in Hidalgo County.
In addition to its “Best Hospitals” accolades, Doctors Hospital at Renaissance was the only healthcare facility in the Rio Grande Valley to receive an “A” rating in the Spring 2014 hospital patient safety scores. The Hospital Safety Score is designed to protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. Doctors Hospital at Renaissance’s “A” score is the highest grade in patient safety that a hospital can achieve. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is administered byThe Leapfrog Group (Leapfrog).
