Also, to have Dr. Anthony Fauci advising the federal government on how to approach the coronavirus menace. Since 1984, Dr. Fauci has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the United States since 1984.

Dr. Fauci has taken our country through a critical time, and during the last weeks, we have had intensive mitigation. As we begin May, we’re starting to see glimmers of a reducing effect.

It is unfortunate that people in New York are in a difficult situation and what they’re trying to do to decompress the surge of cases that they’re having.

During one of the interviews, Dr. Fauci said, “We are still in a difficult situation. We hope, and I believe it will happen that we may start seeing a turnaround.”

As we all know, there is a race in developing a vaccine against the coronavirus. Today, it is in phase one trial. It does not mean that we have a vaccine ready for deployment. The experts say that it will take three months to get into the test, three months to reach safety and immunogenicity data, and then you move into phase two. 

Dr. Fauci pointed out, “What we do from that point on will be determined by what has happened with the outbreak over those months. “Remember we made a phase one trial with SARS, and we never had to use a vaccine, but we are proceeding as if we will have to deploy a vaccine. We’re looking at the worst scenario in case this becomes a bigger outbreak.” 

He referred to SARS, which means Severe acute respiratory syndrome, a viral respiratory disease of zoonotic origin that surfaced in the early 2000s. Zoonotic is a disease caused by germs that spread between animals and people.

That is why I can say that whenever you have a healthcare system not capable or at least not efficiently and effectively to do things like identification, isolation, and contact tracing. The danger of being spread in such an environment is much more severe if you compare it to a society that has a health system that allows you to do that identification and isolation. 

The heading of these Publisher’s Word says it clear. We live in a great nation because, as citizens, we have the guarantee of our government and the warriors of our medical community to look for solutions.
