Mission, TX- The City of Mission acknowledges and is in support with the Centers for Disease Control’s report that the current and pervasive spread of the novel coronavirus can manifest as asymptomatic, or rather among individuals who lack symptoms. This means the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity – for example, speaking, coughing, or sneezing — even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms.

In light of this evidence, Mission Mayor Dr. Armando O’Cana has mandated that all citizens of Mission comply with the CDC recommendation and wear cloth coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain or interactions with fellow citizens is likely.

Medical grade masks are not required. The CDC recommends that people wear cloth or fabric face coverings, which can be made at home, or residents may use a scarf or handkerchief. The CDC recommends constructing your own cloth mask, so as to help ensure that doctors and nurses can obtain access to medical-grade surgical masks.
