EDINBURG, Texas – DHR Health invites the community to cast a line for a cause at its 20th Annual Fishing for Hope Tournament. The event is set for August 22, 2026, at Jim’s Pier on South Padre Island. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Hope Family Health Center, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing primary medical care and integrated behavioral health services to uninsured and low-income families throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
“For 20 years now, our Fishing for Hope Tournament has demonstrated the incredible generosity of our community,” said Minerva Echols, Director of the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance. “This event is more than just a fishing tournament–it is about ensuring that uninsured and low-income families have access to the healthcare services they need. Every dollar raised goes to help the Hope Family Health Center provide these much-needed services.”

The annual “Fishing for Hope” tournament event has been a signature fundraising event for DHR Health for the last two decades. Since the event’s inception, DHR Health has proudly raised more than $5 million in funds that help continue to support the center’s mission and help expand access to healthcare for thousands of patients across the region.
Just last year, the Hope Family Health Center assisted over 1,350 patients with over 5,000 medical, counseling, and lab visits.

“As the need for healthcare assistance continues to grow, community support is more important than ever,” said Marissa Castañeda, Senior Executive Vice President for DHR Health. “We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this 20th anniversary milestone while making a lasting difference in the lives of local families.”
Individuals, businesses, and organizations interested in supporting the 20th Annual “Fishing for Hope” Tournament can participate through several sponsorship and donation opportunities, including Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze sponsorship levels. Sponsorship benefits include angler registration, recognition in event marketing materials, and company advertisement throughout tournament activities. Monetary and in-kind donations of any level are greatly appreciated as well.
