EDINBURG, Texas – DHR Health has once again earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.

“This recognition from Leapfrog reflects the discipline and shared responsibility our teams bring to patient care every day,” said Dr. Manish Singh, chief executive officer of DHR Health. “As members of this community, we understand what this ‘A’ represents for the families we serve. It reinforces our commitment to delivering the highest standard of quality care that is safe, consistent, and centered on the needs of our patients.”

An “A” Grade is the highest rating that demonstrates how DHR Health is deeply committed to providing the highest level of care to its patients.

“We commend the leadership at DHR Health, including its Board of Directors, clinicians, team members for the role each played in earning this distinction,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.

“This achievement truly belongs to every member of our team as it reflects our shared commitment to providing the highest level of care to our patients and excellence as a hospital system,” said Dr. Carlos Cardenas, DHR Health Chairman of the Board.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
