AUSTIN — Governor Greg Abbott joined The University of Texas (UT) to announce the UT Dell Campus for Advanced Research. This new medical education and research facility in Austin will further solidify Texas’ standing as a national leader in medical advancement.

“The future of healthcare starts right here, right now,” said Governor Abbott. “Through this new campus and medical center, Texas will lead America in healthcare innovation. The next generation of medical breakthroughs will take place in Central Texas. More patients will have access to better healthcare that is uniquely tailored to their own personal needs.”

The Governor was joined by Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell, Dell Foundation Board Chair Susan Dell, UT Board of Regents Chairman Kevin Eltife, UT-Austin President Jim Davis, Dell Medical School Dean and UT Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs Claudia Lucchinetti, UT MD Anderson President Peter Pisters, and other education and medical leaders. During his remarks, Governor Abbott emphasized that the partnership between UT and MD Anderson will greatly impact the future of medical research and healthcare for Texans through the creation of a new state-of-the-art care facility. He also noted that through facilities like the UT Dell Campus for Advanced Research, the state will jumpstart advanced medical research and increase access to critical treatment options. Additionally, the Governor underscored the importance of quality healthcare and expanding our medical workforce.
