At 38, South Texas College student and recent PossAble Dream Adult High School graduate Cruselba Luna is finally pursuing a dream she has carried for years: becoming a registered nurse.

Governor Greg Abbott announced the first round of Rural Texas Strong grant awards, providing $51 million in federal funding through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to eligible rural hospital districts and authorities. The funding will help create or improve community-based prevention, wellness and nutrition programs.

Attorney General Ken Paxton launched an investigation into Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (“BCBSTX”), its parent company, Health Care Service Corporation (“HCSC”), and their related business entities. This investigation is based on BCBSTX’s procedures for denying and delaying urgent and medically necessary care and its potentially burdensome prior authorization requirements.

Governor Greg Abbott appointed Rick Siewert, D.O. to the Texas Medical Board (TMB) District Three Review Committee for a term set to expire on January 15, 2030.
