St. Patrick’s Day is a cherished religious and cultural holiday honoring the life and legacy of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.

Over time, it has also become widely associated with luck, with symbols like four leaf clovers and wearing green believed to bring good fortune.

For expectant parents, few moments feel luckier than welcoming a new baby on this special day, celebrated around the globe each March 17.

This year, the Jimenez family is celebrating an extra dose of good fortune as they welcome their very own St. Patrick’s Day baby.

Weighing 6 lbs., 14 oz. and measuring 20 inches long, Baby Kaeli arrived by caesarean section (C-section) at The Maternity Center at South Texas Health System (STHS) Edinburg at 6:28 a.m., becoming the first baby born at an STHS facility this St. Patrick’s Day and leaving her parents feeling truly clover joyed.

“It’s a lucky day, I’m so happy,” says Jessica Jimenez after the birth of her third child and first girl. “I had no idea it was St. Patrick’s Day when my doctor picked today for my Csection. I just knew I was ready to meet my baby and be done being pregnant.”

Jessica chose the name Kaeli after the daughter of Mexican American beauty influencer Leslie Quezada, widely known online as Les Do Makeup. What she didn’t realize, however, is that the name has Irish origins and means “slender.”

“It feels like an extra blessing on an already special day,” says Jessica.

Staff members at The Maternity Center at STHS Edinburg are clover the moon to be part of the family’s journey in welcoming Baby Kaeli into the world, working tirelessly to help ensure the process is as smooth as possible.

“We feel truly fortunate to share in this special moment with the Jimenez family, and it’s an honor to be chosen as their healthcare system of choice,” says NormaLinda Aguirre, BSN, RNCOB, Director of Women’s Services & Nursery at the Maternity Center at STHS Edinburg. “Our team is committed to providing personalized attention to every patient and their family, ensuring their newborns are welcomed into a safe and joyful environment.”

In addition to providing the highest level of individualized care, staff went above and beyond to make the day even more memorable for the family by surprising them with holiday themed gifts and treats, including a festive Lucky Charm onesie.

A reflection of its dedication to providing expectant families and their newborns quality, compassionate care, STHS Edinburg and STHS McAllen have been named a recent Five-Star Recipient for C-Section Delivery, Hysterectomy and Gynecology Procedures by Healthgrades. These distinctions highlight the system’s dedication to consistently providing high-quality women’s healthcare and position STHS among the nation’s leading hospitals for OB/GYN services.
