EDINBURG, Texas – With the grand opening of Reserva Coffee Roasters’ newest café, the warmth and comfort of home are now just a brew away at South Texas Health System Edinburg (STHS) and STHS Children’s, helping create the perfect setting for connection, conversation and community for hospital visitors, staff and physicians.

To mark the special occasion, STHS Edinburg hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 18, 2026, celebrating the official launch of Reserva’s newest location, its fifth in the Rio Grande Valley.

Located on the first floor of STHS Edinburg, the Reserva Coffee Roasters café offers a selection of specialty coffees, espressos and teas, along with non-caffeinated beverages such as watermelon and lavender lemonades, as well as a variety of meal options and freshly baked goods. The café is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Image courtesy of STHS

“At South Texas Health System, we take great pride in delivering an exceptional level of care and experience for every patient and their family,” said Dennis Njororai, Assistant Administrator II, STHS Edinburg and STHS Children’s. “This partnership was inspired by the patient- and family-centered experience STHS is known for, as well as Reserva’s strong commitment to customer service. Their hands-on approach, from crafting signature recipes to personally maintaining their equipment, reflects a deep sense of ownership and dedication to delivering a high-quality experience for every guest at their STHS Edinburg location.”

From its humble beginnings as a single coffee shop in McAllen with just eight employees, Reserva has evolved into a beloved local brand, steadily expanding while staying true to its passion for handcrafted coffee and its mission of bringing people together, one cup at a time.

“The vision for this space was to create a calming, welcoming environment for the families of STHS Edinburg and STHS Children’s patients, because we understand that being in a hospital can often feel heavy,” said Michelle Quiroz, Managing Partner, Reserva. “Even something as simple as a warm pastry or a cup of coffee can offer a moment of comfort and renewal. At Reserva Coffee Roasters, we believe every guest deserves the best, each roast reflects countless hours of care and intention, much like the dedication shown by the staff and physicians at STHSEdinburg and STHS Children’s. For us, roasting and brewing coffee isn’t just a craft; it’s our calling.”

Scientists Unlock Faster, Better Way to Capture Ultimate Cancer-Fighting Cells

A new platform developed by researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center quickly finds and isolates rare, tumor-reactive immune cells that are especially good at recognizing and attacking cancer cells, even without knowing which tumor targets are recognized by the immune cells. This approach addresses a major bottleneck in immunotherapy development and could potentially accelerate the creation of personalized treatments.
