Purple Project 5k: The 6th Annual Purple Project 5K for All Cancers will take place at 8:00 a.m. on June 27, 2026, at Firemen’s Park in McAllen. EDINBURG, Texas – The Renaissance Cancer Foundation will once again host its 6th Annual Purple Project 5K for All Cancers. The event is scheduled to take place at 8:00 a.m. on June 27, 2026, at the Firemen’s Park located at 201 N. 1st Street in McAllen. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Renaissance Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization of DHR Health dedicated to helping local cancer patients facing financial hardship in their journey towards healing. Assistance programs include financial and transportation assistance, as well as free wigs and breast prostheses.

The 5K aims to raise cancer survivor awareness during the month of June, which is known as “National Cancer Survivors Month.” For this 5k event, DHR Health invites cancer survivors, caretakers, family members, and friends to participate as the event helps unite cancer survivors, remember the memory of lives lost to cancer, and show support for those currently fighting the disease.

“We invite everyone to join us on June 27 as we honor and support all those impacted by cancer. It is inspiring to see people from all walks of life and fitness levels come together as a community to help patients in the Rio Grande Valley. This event is more than a race, it is a symbol of hope, strength, remembrance, and unity,” said Evelyn Saenz, Executive Director of the Renaissance Cancer Foundation.

Registration is now open, and participants who register by June 5 will receive a Purple Project 5K t-shirt and custom bib. The registration fee is $10 for cancer survivors (no time chip) and $25 for walkers (no time chip), For runners with time chip, the fee is $15 for cancer survivors and $30 for runners. Additionally, all registered participants to cross the 5K finish line will receive a commemorative medal. To register, visit the event’s official website at www.dhr.link/FightCancer.
