South Texas Health System is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessica Becker, MBA, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of South Texas Health System Behavioral, the first and longest-running behavioral health facility with private inpatient treatment in the Rio Grande Valley. Becker, who started on June 27, 2022, is responsible for leading the facility’s staff in delivering quality, compassionate care to patients in the Rio Grande Valley and surrounding areas.
“I am very excited to collaborate with the amazing psychiatrists, clinical and support team at STHS Behavioral, as we strive to provide a safe place for people who need behavioral and mental health support,” says Becker. “I am committed to helping our community break the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and I have been quite impressed with how unified leaders and partners in the community are in removing barriers for individuals to get the help they need. I am humbled to be on the team at STHS Behavioral as we continue to strengthen our position in the community and expand our services. Together, we can become nationally recognized for our quality, compassionate care, and commitment to excellence.”
The facility, which has been in operation for more than 30 years, offers behavioral health services tailored to children, adolescents and adults. Licensed for 134 beds, STHS Behavioral offers programs that are designed to care for a wide range of behavioral health conditions and addictive disorders. Staff members work across a multi-disciplinary team to develop and deliver individualized treatment plans to lead patients on the path to recovery.
“We are thrilled that Jessica chose the Valley as her new home, and to have her as a valued leader on our team,” says Chuck Stark, Regional Vice President, South Texas Health System. “With Jessica’s knowledge, experience and expertise, and the committed team of psychiatrists and employees working at South Texas Health System Behavioral, I am confident that many of the citizens in our community will be helped.”
Prior to joining South Texas Health System Behavioral, Becker served as the Chief Operations Officer at Kingwood Pines Hospital, in Kingwood Texas, where she participated in the Universal Health Services (UHS) COO-in-training program. During her tenure, Becker oversaw several projects geared toward improving patient safety and experience. Before that, she was the CEO at Assurance Health in Wilmington and Cincinnati, Ohio, where she oversaw two facilities that provided inpatient psychiatric services to senior adults. Under Becker’s leadership, both facilities maintained good standing with CMS and The Joint Commission.
Becker earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Hospital Administration from Benedictine University, in Lisle, Illinois, and her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Pierce College, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
