Edinburg, Texas – DHR Health is pleased to announce the addition of orthopedic surgeon Zain Sayeed, M.D., M.H.A, to its team of talented physicians at the Orthopedic Institute. Dr. Sayeed is a fellowship-trained joint replacement surgeon coming from Harvard Medical School – Massachusetts General Brigham. 
 
He is one of the only surgeons in the Rio Grande Valley with fellowship training specifically in the area of adult reconstruction. He will incorporate state-of-the-art techniques such as anterior hip replacement, robotic assisted surgery, tourniquet free total knee replacement, hip preservation, and patient specific instrumentation. 
 
“Dr. Sayeed’s expertise and compassionate approach align perfectly with our mission to deliver the highest level of patient-centered care,” said Marissa Castaneda, senior executive vice president with DHR Health. “He will be an excellent addition to our team.”
 
A native of Illinois, Dr. Sayeed graduated from Chicago Medical School in 2017. After medical school, he pursued a residency in orthopedic surgery at Wayne State University at the Detroit Medical Center in Michigan, followed by a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Harvard Medical School. While at Harvard, he trained under foremost implant design leaders and revision surgeons in the field of joint replacement. 
 
Additionally, Dr. Sayeed helped further advance the field of joint replacement through evidenced based approaches including clinical and translational research. He has published over 60 articles, which include peer-reviewed journals and multiple book chapters, several of which were through the Harvard  research program, currently the largest hospital-based research program in the world. His work has been presented at the international level. He continues to be academically productive in efforts to provide his patients with cutting edge joint replacement care in South Texas. 
 
In his spare time, Dr. Sayeed enjoys spending time with his family, fitness, traveling, and enjoying the culture and cuisine of the Valley. His family is eager to put down roots in the RGV, where they’ll be close to other relatives living nearby.
